Dupré Logistics Recognizes National Truck Driver Appreciation Week
11/03/2009 - The first week of November Dupré Logistics is recognizing the truck drivers who safely deliver the clothes you wear, food you eat, or medicine you take through the extensive delivery network in our country. During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2009 (Nov. 1-7) Dupré Logistics is making sure that the professional truck drivers who deliver the goods Americans use everyday are recognized.
“National Truck Driver Appreciation Week gives us a chance to thank the professional truck drivers that delivery life’s essentials – and at the same time, explain how important they are for our country,” said Reggie Dupré, CEO of Dupré Logistics, “Professional truck drivers move America safely, efficiently and on time.”
Dupré is holding driver appreciation activities at each terminal location throughout the week and providing drivers with recognition gifts, luncheons and visits from executives to thank them for their efforts. Motor carriers, state trucking associations, and trucking industry manufacturers and suppliers are holding festivities for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week across the nation.
There are over 3.5 million professional truck drivers nationwide, with 1,000 employees comprising the Dupré team. Professional truck drivers are the unsung heroes of the American highway and the U.S. economy. They keep the shelves of our local supermarkets stocked; deliver medicine and medical supplies to our hospitals and clinics; and deliver goods at every stage of production – from raw materials to the store shelf – and they do it safely and on time. In short, truck drivers are vital to a healthy America.
Logging over 432 billion miles per year, trucks delivered 10.7 billion tons of freight in 2007, or 69 percent of total U.S. freight tonnage. Professional truck drivers are more essential to the national economy than ever before, and they’re delivering their loads safely and professionally.
The American Trucking Associations is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry. Through a federation of other trucking groups, industry-related conferences and its 50 affiliated state trucking associations, ATA represents more than 37,000 members covering every type of motor carrier in the United States.
