John Istre Safety Award

The focus on safety and service at Dupré dates back to beginning with our very first employee, John Istre. Mr. John was hired in December, 1979 and retired from our company in May, 1991. He was a prime factor in our success and he left a legacy of doing the job right the first time in a safe and efficient manner. He stressed the recognition of our employees for their contributions working as a team to accomplish our company’s mission. In 1985 Dupré Logistics established the John Istre Safety award as part of our continued commitment to safety awareness. The award recognizes our employees as a team and requires each individual team member to work toward common goals which cannot be achieved alone. Simply stated, to be successful as a team, members of the team have to be willing to give of themselves to make the team successful. “Mr. John” poured himself into Dupré during his eleven years of service, doing so unselfishly and always with the goal of making our team successful. We are proud to recognize his legacy on a continuous basis through this award.

Dupré presents this award to the team of drivers with the lowest percentage of preventable accidents twice yearly. It is up to the driver teams at each terminal to work together and help each other avoid errors and/or dangerous situations. We challenge our employees to follow Mr. John’s example of safety, service, quality and team values.
